John Walker

John has worked in the field of marine engineering for almost 30 years. Following graduation from Warsash Maritime Academy in the UK, he sailed on commercial ships to the rank of Chief Engineer. Following his sea going career, he came ashore to project manage new construction and refits of large containerships, cruise liners and some of the world’s largest superyachts.

Since 2009 he has been a leading expert in shipyard and marine casualty investigation, causal analysis, and shipboard risk engineering assessments, working on behalf of Underwriters, engine manufacturers, shipyards, and shipowners.

John is a Chartered Marine Engineer, Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers, active member of AIMU and past chairman of the Association of Average Adjusters of the US & Canada.

He currently leads ABL Group’s Maritime team of consulting engineers and mariners in the America’s region.
