Lindsay Getschel

Lindsay Getschel is the Outreach and Engagement Associate at the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA). She leads ORRAA’s engagement with its 56 members as well as leads work on an ORRAA project to develop insurance industry solutions to combat IUU fishing. She also leads ORRAA’s collaboration with AXA XL on developing the Coastal Risk Index, which aims to highlight the importance of coastal natural ecosystems in reducing flood risk to vulnerable communities.

Prior to joining ORRAA, she worked at AXA XL on their Ocean Risk Initiative. As part of this role, she co-led the development of the Coastal Risk Index as well as managed the AXA Ocean Education and Ocean Risk Scholarships programs. Previously, she conducted research on environmental security at the Stimson Center, a non-profit think tank in Washington, DC, with a focus on vulnerabilities in coastal cities to the impacts of climate change. She has also briefed the UN Security Council on the global security implications of climate change and presented policy recommendations to member countries. She received her Master’s in International Relations from the London School of Economics.
