Scott Brown
Scott Brown is Chief, Marine Risk Engineering at National Cargo Bureau, Inc; a not-for-profit marine surveying company whose mission of “Safety of Life and Cargo at Sea” is accomplished primarily through services relating to the safe transportation of hazardous materials and stability of ships carrying solid bulk cargos.
Prior to rejoining NCB in 2018, Scott worked at AIG for 11 years in various roles including Transportation Lead for the Client Risk Solutions Group and Global Manager of the Marine Loss Prevention Team. His maritime career spans over 30 years and includes a prior stint with NCB in various surveying and management positions; time at sea as a deck officer on a variety of merchant vessels; as well as service in the US Navy as a Naval Flight Officer.
Scott possesses a B.S. degree in Marine Transportation from the US Merchant Marine Academy and a Post Graduate degree in Marine Insurance from the World Maritime University.
Scott is currently a member of the AIMU Cargo Loss Prevention Committee. He has also served as a board member for TAPA Americas as well as on various USCG Advisory Committees including the Chemical Transportation Advisory Committee where he chaired the Solid Bulk Cargo Subcommittee.
